It’s understandable that right now, you might be disappointed. You might be worried for what the future holds.
It’s understandable and it’s okay. I’m not going to blow smoke up your skirt and say everything is rainbows and puppy dogs.
But…
Pumpkin pie is coming. Turkey is coming. The warmth of familial hugs, laughter, and a nap after a delicious meal.
We still have much to be thankful for.
Yes, the America we love and cherish is on life support. Her enemies are within, plotting her demise. The federal government and several states have gone all in for authoritarianism.
And yet, in times like this when big things seem to be going the wrong way, it is all the more imperative to count our blessings, especially the small ones. The shining sun, healthy kids, another day above ground.
People have survived worse. We will survive.
But do we survive with thankful hearts or hearts full of anger and bitterness?
I choose to be thankful.

But yes--any of us lucky to have people in our lives we love, who love us--this is more than anything that has done its worst to derange every sensibility we've got.
Thanksgiving is a mixture of loony liberal urbanites, suburban faux libertarians, and conservative rural folks. We all get along for 5 or 6 hours and go home to be ourselves again. Giants - Cowboys could change that this year.
